Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad today inaugurated a new daily train service from Shirdi to Puntamba in the district. The train will run on a regular basis from Puntamba to Mumbai.

Mr Yadav, who arrived here by an Air Force plane, drove from Aurangabad to Shirdi for ''darshan'' of Sai Baba, before pressing the electronic button at Sai Nagar Railway station to formally inaugurate the service. Mr Prasad also gave away cash awards worth Rs 20 lakh to railway employees for completing the Rs 80 crore project in a record time. He also announced new train services to Shirdi from Lucknow, Patna, Delhi and Hyderabad in future.

He also presented the cash prizes of Rs 10,000 each to the driver and the guard of the train.
